Waterpark sold to unnamed developer
A waterpark which has been closed for four years has been sold to a developer.
Wet 'n' Wild owner Serco Leisure confirmed the sale of the site in North Shields, but did not reveal any details about its new owner.
The waterpark, which opened in 1993, was bought by Serco in 2014 after being in financial difficulties for years.
It underwent a 拢1.1m makeover, but went into administration in 2020 when it closed permanently.
The park in the Royal Quays complex, which featured slides, a wave machine and rapids, was the UK's largest indoor waterparks when it opened.
A spokesman for Serco Leisure said: "We鈥檝e agreed to sell the site and have exchanged contracts with a purchaser with a view to completing the transaction in August."
Plans for the site have yet to be revealed.
