A former bowling alley in Sheffield which has been vacant for six years will be converted into a supermarket.
Sheffield City Council鈥檚 planning officers approved the application for the former MFA bowling alley in Sicey Avenue, Firth Park, on Wednesday.
Documents submitted on behalf of Ozmen Ltd state its intention to refurbish the building and use it as a retail unit.
The premises has been vacant since the closure of the bowling alley in 2018.
Developers say the applicant seeks to "make efficient use" of the brownfield site in an area "which needs attention", according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service..
The applicant, , was planning to use the existing vehicle access into the site, improve the main entrance and provide disabled car and cycle parking.
鈥淚nternally the building will be refurbished, the first-floor cafe and restaurant will be refurbished and is to be used by retail customers only," it stated.
鈥淭he site鈥檚 ground level roof to the lower-level accommodation will be enclosed and clad in metal to match the existing building and made into the ground floor storage area.
鈥淓xisting car parking will be increased. No other external alterations are proposed.鈥
