A man has been arrested after two teenage girls were sexually assaulted on an airbed at a beach, police have said.

The 16-year-olds met a group of men in the sea east of Bournemouth Pier on 12 August.

The girls sat on one of the men's inflatable beds and were touched inappropriately, detectives added.

Police said a 22-year-old man from the London area had been arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and was later released on bail.

The girls were able to jump off the inflatable and escape the men, detectives added.

Det Con Hele Leech-Wilkinson said: “Work is ongoing to identify two other men reported to be involved."

Police have appealed to trace witnesses who were at the beach at around the time of incident, between 13:30 and 14:00 BST.
