Burglary arrests after 'police' kit found in car
Three people have been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit burglary after body armour and a cap bearing the word "police" were found in a car in Pontefract.
West Yorkshire Police said officers stopped a white Seat Ibiza on Wrangbrook Lane in the Upton area of the town while conducting routine patrols on Monday evening.
One occupant made off from the vehicle but the other three - two 24-year-old men and a 17-year-old boy - were arrested and remain in custody.
Besides the armour and cap, a lock knife and a quantity of cannabis were also found in the car.
Det Insp Heather Shearer said the items found were of "clear concern".
"We have enquiries ongoing to establish any potential linked offences," she said.
鈥淚t also serves as a timely reminder that legitimate police officers will always carry identification.
"If you have any concerns about someone purporting to be the police you can ask them to verify their identity and, if you continue to have concerns, should call 101 or 999 in an emergency.鈥
