Six teenagers have been arrested after a stabbing in Derby.

Police were called to Pear Tree Road, near the junction of Crewe Street, in Normanton after witnesses reported a group of teens fighting at about 15:00 BST on Sunday.

Six of the group were later spotted at the Caribbean Carnival site in Osmaston Park, where one boy was arrested on suspicion of GBH and affray and a further five teenagers arrested on suspicion of affray.

Later on Monday, Derbyshire Police said they had all been released on bail.

The force said it initially thought an unknown teenager had been stabbed during the altercation, but later concluded the victim was one of those arrested.

Det Insp Darren Rumbelow said: "Following the arrest of these six individuals, one was found to have superficial injuries and having reviewed all evidence including video footage from the scene, we are satisfied that no serious injuries have been caused.

"We are confident that the six people arrested were the main people involved in the incident."

Police added the stabbing was not connected to the carnival.
