Man in court charged with murder of Edinburgh woman

A man has appeared in court charged with murdering a 78-year-old woman in Edinburgh.
Daniel Parker is accused of killing Margaret Parker at her home in Fernieside Crescent on Tuesday.
The 36-year-old is also charged with attempting to murder two other women, aged 42 and 55, during the same incident.
Mr Parker made no plea during a private hearing at the city’s sheriff court.
Ms Parker was pronounced dead at the scene. The two other women did not require medical treatment.
Officers had been called to the cul-de-sac in the city's Moredun area at about 08:25 on Tuesday morning.
Mr Parker was remanded in custody on an undertaking to appear in court again within the next eight days.
