Two men in their 20s were taken to hospital with serious injuries after they were stabbed in a town centre.

Hertfordshire Constabulary said it was called to an incident close to Watford Junction railway station, at about 18:45 BST on Wednesday.

A 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of GBH and remains in police custody.

It said a 17-year-old, went to hospital, a short time later, with an injury to his hand.

Police said, following a search, a knife was recovered and seized.

One man, in his 20s, has been released from hospital, but two remain in a serious but stable condition.

Insp Dan Jones said: "We believe the people involved are known to one another."

He said the assault happened in a "high-traffic area, at a time when there would have been a lot of people around" and appealed for anyone with information to get in touch.

The force asked people not to "post comments that could prejudice the criminal justice process" and appealed for anyone with any information to get in touch.
