Footage showing a teenager's 100mph police pursuit has been released after he was given a suspended sentence for dangerous driving.

Shane Urwin, 18 and from Washington, drove on the wrong side of the road, ignored red lights and smashed through roadworks in the Tyne Tunnel to escape officers on 20 August.

Vehicles, including large lorries, had to take evasive action as he drove towards them.

He was sentenced to a year's detention suspended for two years with 200 hours unpaid work.
