Public's views sought on new wood to mark coronation

People have been asked for their thoughts on plans for a new wood to celebrate the coronation of the King.

Forestry England said 54 hectares of land had been bought in the Shropshire Hills, close to Picklescott, for the site.

The project has been supported by the government's and is part of a scheme to create 2,000 hectares of new woodland across the country.

Hannah Holden from Forestry England said she wanted to know the sort of woodland that people wanted - and what it could be called.

She said there would be public footpaths leading to the wood and people would have "free access to wander where they like".

The new wood would be close to to the existing woodlands at Eastridge and Huglith and planted with a mixture of trees.

The consultation and it closes on 6 May.
