A man has been charged in connection with the discovery of almost 300 cannabis plants worth an estimated 拢290,000 at a house in Doncaster.

Officers who raided the property in Lindholme on Tuesday found a "substantial" cannabis factory spread across four rooms, according to South Yorkshire Police.

A 38-year-old man was charged with producing a controlled Class B drug and appeared before Doncaster Magistrates' Court on Thursday.

He was remanded in custody and is next due to appear at Sheffield Crown Court on 27 November.

Police said the electricity at the house was found to have been bypassed, which posed a fire risk to neighbours, and it had to be made safe by engineers.

The cannabis plants found at the property had since been destroyed, a South Yorkshire Police spokesperson said.
