A man in his 30's has been arrested on suspicion of assault after a man was taken to hospital with serious head injuries.

The attack happened close to the Velentino Gelato dessert restaurant in St Nicholas Street, Worcester, at about 02:40 BST on Saturday, West Mercia Police said.

The victim was taken to hospital and was in a stable condition, officers added.

The force thanked the public for sharing its appeal for witnesses.
