A knife-wielding man took money off a security guard outside a Cornish supermarket, police have said.

Devon and Cornwall Police said it responded to an armed robbery outside Sainsbury's in Jelbert Way, Penzance, at 10:18 BST on Thursday.

The force said officers received reports a man in possession of a knife had taken bags of cash from a security guard, before riding away on a moped.

Police have asked people not to approach the suspect and said anyone who has information about the incident should call 999.

The force released CCTV images of a man wanted in connection with the incident.

A police spokesperson said the suspect was described as being over 6ft (1.82m) tall and wearing black leathers, a balaclava and a black bike helmet.

The suspect's moped is described as small and black with a black and red box on the back.
