Construction of a new state-of-the-art boathouse intended for use by young people can go ahead.
The 拢700,000 water sports facility will be constructed at Fishmoor Reservoir, off Haslingden Road, in Blackburn, on behalf of Lancashire School Sailing Association (LSSA).
The facility has already secured a long lease on the land owned by Blackburn with Darwen Council and United Utilities.
The community boathouse, whose construction was approved at a meeting of Blackburn with Darwen Council鈥檚 planning committee, will improve and protect access to water sports in the area.
Bespoke facility
The project is supported by donations and in-kind services from the Issa brothers鈥 EG Group and Persimmon Homes, with kit and equipment donations from Blackburn Sports Council.
The scheme will include a parking area and secure rigging area leading to the existing slipway, and will provide for a bespoke facility for LSSA to promote water sports at the reservoir.
Existing shipping containers on the site will be removed.
