A three-year-old was injured when he was hit by a motorcycle which then left the scene, police say.

The boy was left bruised and his arm was broken in the incident on Kingsway in the Fenham area of Newcastle on Thursday evening.

Northumbria Police said the bike's pillion passenger is believed to have been thrown off before he and the male rider left in the direction of Fenham Hall Drive.

An investigation is now under way, and anyone with information is being asked to contact the force.

A police spokesman said: "We are particularly keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident [at 20:13 BST], or those who may have dashcam footage of the moments leading up to the collision which could assist our enquiries."
