Man denies murder after fatal stabbing

A man has pleaded not guilty to the murder of a 26-year-old who was stabbed to death inside a property in Barnsley.

Sipho Pfukani, 28, denies murdering Lazarus Makono who died at the scene on Cooperative Street on 21 February.

At Sheffield Crown Court on Monday, Mr Pfukani, of Aldham House Lane, Wombwell, was told he would stand trial in October.

A second man, Terrance Mlotshwa, pleaded guilty to assisting an offender and fraud by false representation.

Mlotshwa, 28, and of Ripley Avenue, Derby, who was previously charged with Mr Makono's murder, was remanded in custody.
