A 50-year-old man died in the crash on the A1 near Eyemouth on Thursday

A man has been killed in a crash involving a truck and a lorry on the A1 in the Scottish Borders.

Emergency services were called to the incident north of Eyemouth at about 03:30 on Thursday.

Police Scotland confirmed that a 50-year-old man had died at the scene.

Sgt Jill Kirkpatrick said there had been no reports of any other injuries.

Inquiries into the incident are ongoing and anyone with information has been asked to contact police.

The road was shut for more than 10 hours and eventually reopened at about 14:15.

Meanwhile, two people were taken to hospital following another crash in the Borders on the same day.

The three-vehicle accident happened on the A68 south of Earlston at about 08:30.

Emergency services were called out and a 28-year-old man and 49-year-old woman were taken by ambulance to the Borders General Hospital.

The road reopened at about 12:30.
