Skeletal remains have been been found at the home of missing woman Tina Satchwell in County Cork.
Ms Satchwell was 45 when she was reported missing from her home in Grattan Street in Youghal in March 2017.
The remains, which have not been identified, were discovered during a search of Ms Satchwell's home on Wednesday evening by garda铆 (Irish police) investigating her disappearance.
A man in his 50s been arrested.
The assistant state pathologist attended the scene after the human remains were found.
The remains have been taken to Cork University Hospital for further examination including DNA analysis.
Garda铆 are continuing examinations at Ms Satchwell's home and a second search between Youghal and Killeagh in County Cork has ended.
Long-term investigation
Garda铆 upgraded their missing persons investigation to a murder investigation on Tuesday.
A man was arrested on suspicion of the murder of Ms Satchwell, but he was released without charge on Wednesday night.
The investigation into Ms Satchwell's disappearance has remained active over the past six and a half years.
Three months after she was reported missing, garda铆 conducted a technical and forensic examination of the three-storey home she shared with her husband, and the couple's car.
Later that year, the Garda Water Unit conducted a search of the shoreline in Youghal while officers also searched an area of wasteland elsewhere in the town.
In March 2023, on the sixth anniversary of her disappearance, garda铆 renewed their appeal for the public's help.
