Larger loo plan to make park more accessible
Sunderland City Council has submitted an application to its own planning department for Roker Park

A larger toilet with more facilities is planned to make a park more accessible for people with disabilities.
The application by Sunderland City Council, for Roker Park, includes the introduction of a Changing Places Toilet for people with complex care needs.
The convenience is proposed for the north of the park, near an existing public toilet block.
A decision is expected to be made after a consultation.
Changing Places Toilets have been mandatory in new buildings since 2020 and a year later, government funding was offered to add them to existing sites.
According to submitted plans, the facility would offer a range of accessibility aids, including a ceiling hoist and track and height adjustable adult changing bench, as well as an electric shower.
The application for Roker Park follows a similar application for a Changing Places facility at Herrington Country Park, the Local Democracy Reporting Service said.
