Car stopped after going wrong way on motorway

Police were flooded with calls when a car travelled the wrong way on the M6, prompting officers to intercept the driver.
Events unfolded on the northbound carriageway near Stafford in the early hours of Thursday.
Officers stopped the vehicle and spoke to a man in his eighties about what had happened.
The elderly driver was taken to hospital as a precaution, the Staffordshire force said, adding that while there had been no intent to endanger others, the man's driving licence had been revoked.
Motorway police colleagues were made aware of the car at about 04:40 GMT as it travelled near junction 14.
Staffordshire Police thanked drivers for their patience and understanding during the resulting traffic disruption.
