A beach in Redcar is to host a free, two-day kite festival this summer.

Kite enthusiasts and experts are expected to descend on Majuba Beach on 25 and 26 May for a weekend of aerial displays.

The event will feature some of the world's largest inflatable kites, along with choreographed routines, beginners' sessions, workshops and live music.

Carrie Richardson, deputy leader of Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council, said it would be a family-friendly weekend "full of fun and creativity".

She added: "As well as being a free and fun event the weekend will also help highlight the power and sustainability of the wind and what better place for it to take place than Majuba beach.

"I would encourage as many people as possible to come along and make it a weekend to remember and enjoy.鈥
