Man suffers cardiac arrest after assault

A man was taken to hospital after suffering a cardiac arrest following an assault.

It happened in the West Road area of Lancaster on Thursday at about 16:00 BST, Lancashire Police said.

Officers performed CPR on the victim, aged in his 50s, who remains in a serious but stable condition following what police described as an "altercation".

Two other men, also in their 50s, were arrested on suspicion of wounding.

The force has appealed for anyone with any information to contact them.
