A 14-year-old girl has been arrested over an attack in a park that left an 80-year-old man in a critical condition.
Police said the man was assaulted by a group of young people in Franklin Park, close to the entrance in Bramble Way in the Braunstone area of the city, at about 18:30 BST on Sunday.
Detectives said the man was wearing a black jumper and grey jogging bottoms at the time of the attack.
The teenager has been detained in connection with the incident, Leicestershire Police said.
A cordon remains in place in the Franklin Park area while investigations continue.
Det Insp Lorna Granville said: "We urgently need to speak to anyone who was walking in the park or in the area of Bramble Way around 18:30 last night."
