Gas maintenance works close road for five weeks

A key road connecting the Isle of Man's capital and an eastern village is due to be shut for five weeks for gas maintenance works.
Summer Hill, in Douglas, has been closed from the junction with the promenade to Strathallan Road until 1 December.
A diversion will guide motorists around the area via King Edward Road and Imperial Terrace.
An Isle of Man Energy spokesman said the Department of Infrastructure had approved the closure for the works as the current gas main was in the carriageway.
He confirmed the work had started earlier this year before being paused for the Manx Grand Prix motorcycle festival.
He added the firm was committed to upgrading and replacing the mains in the island鈥檚 roads to "make sure our networks are ready for low carbon energy and renewable biofuels when available".
Emergency access will be maintained at all times throughout the duration of the works.
