Police officer assault trial date set
A South Yorkshire Police officer charged with assaulting a man during an arrest is due to go on trial in December.
Connor Smith, 28, is accused of using excessive force during an incident in Doncaster on 19 July 2023.
Mr Smith, of Bramling Cross Mews in Worksop, previously pleaded not guilty to assault by beating.
At a hearing at Leeds Magistrates' Court on Thursday, which Mr Smith was excused from attending, a start date for the trial was confirmed for 17 December.
It is scheduled to last two days.
Mr Smith was suspended from duty by South Yorkshire Police following the allegation, pending the outcome of criminal proceedings and its own internal investigation.
