Missing kayaker's body found off Waterford coast
The body of a man in his 60s, who was reported missing after going kayaking off the coast of County Waterford, has been discovered.
The man went kayaking from Helvick, near Dungarvan, shortly after 11:30 local time on Monday, with the alarm being raised at 17:30 that day.
The Irish Coastguard said his body was recovered at about 08:30 local time on Tuesday off Ballyvoyle Head by an Irish naval service boat and brought to the RNLI station at Helvick.
An extensive search was co-ordinated by the Marine Rescue Coordination Centre in Dublin and the navy's inshore patrol vessel.
Various coastguard units were involved in the search, as well as an RNLI volunteer crew and the Irish Coastguard's R117 helicopter.
The Irish Coastguard and the RNLI have extended their condolences to the man's family and friends.
