Police released a picture of a man they wish to trace after a bus was attacked in Sheffield

A man used an axe to smash the windscreen of a bus in South Yorkshire, prompting a CCTV appeal.

The vehicle was attacked on Abbeydale Road in Sheffield at about 19:00 BST on 16 August, police said.

Officers said they believed the pictured man would be able to assist with their investigation into the incident.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesperson described the man as Asian, about 5ft 10ins (1.77m) tall, of a stocky build, with a beard and black hair.

They said the man was wearing a black jacket and blue jeans at the time, with anyone who recognised him asked to contact police.
