Man left with life-threatening injuries after assault

A man has been left with life-threatening injuries after he was seriously assaulted in Belfast.

It happened at about 19:00 BST in Townsend Street on Wednesday.

A 27-year-old man has been arrested following the incident.

Police and ambulance services attended the scene and took a man to hospital for treatment for life-threatening injuries.

The arrested man remains in police custody.

Police are urging any witnesses of the assault or anyone with CCTV or other footage to get in touch.
