Man admits Apprentice Boys' parade assault

A man has admitted assaulting a Londonderry businessman during an Apprentice Boys' parade in the city.

Ian Knipe, 47, from Wentworth Green, Portadown, had been due to contest a charge of assault occasioning actual bodily harm on the man in the Spencer Road area of Derry on August 12 2023.

At Londonderry Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, Knipe changed his plea to guilty.

Deputy District Judge Peter Prenter said he would need a pre-sentence report before passing sentence.

Knipe was released on bail to appear again on 6 December.
