A busy road will be closed overnight for three weeks for resurfacing work.
The A596 will be closed from Sunday 1 September between Low Whinnow, near Carlisle, Cumbria, to Micklethwaite.
A diversion will be in place, but Cumberland Council has warned drivers to plan their journeys in advance.
Councillor Denise Rollo said: "Our continued aim is to enhance the entire network for everyone鈥檚 benefit, and we will always work closely with local stakeholders and residents to minimise any inconvenience that this causes."
During the resurfacing work, the road will be closed from 19:00 to 06:00 BST each day.
Two-way traffic lights will be in place at some locations where structural work is being carried out.
Residents have been told to speak to traffic marshals on site if they need access to the area during evenings.
Cumberland Council said bad weather could cause the work to take longer than the planned three weeks.
It follows on from four nights of planned resurfacing work on the A596 Aspatria, which began on Wednesday.
