Police in Jersey have launched an appeal for witnesses after a woman was allegedly repeatedly assaulted by a man.

Officers said the incident happened in St Helier between 20:55 BST and 21:10 on Friday 20 September.

A man and woman in their 30s were seen arguing as they walked from Mulcaster Street to Halkett Street, where members of the public intervened, the force said.

During their journey, it was alleged that the man, wearing a grey T-shirt and dark workman鈥檚 trousers, repeatedly assaulted the woman.

The woman was in a black top and trousers, officers said.

Police said they would like to speak to anyone who saw the pair and could provide any information about exactly what happened.

This includes drivers who were in the area at the time and may have dash-cam footage.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the police or the charity .
