A passenger has died in a collision between a car and a lorry on a Devon main road, police have said.

The victim, a woman aged in her 40s from Helston in Cornwall, was in the car which collided with the lorry on the A30 at Whiddon Down, near Chagford in Devon, at about 22:00 BST on Tuesday.

Devon and Cornwall Police said the woman died at the scene and the driver of the car, a man in his 60s also from Helston, was treated in hospital for minor injuries.

The eastbound carriageway which was closed between the A382 at Whiddon Down and the A377 at Exeter, has now reopened, said National Highways.

Officers have appealed for witnesses and anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.

Police can be contacted online or by telephone on 101, quoting log 835 of 15/10/202.
