Provisional trial set for double murder accused

A provisional trial date has been set for a man charged with the murders of a married couple in East Sussex.
The bodies of Josh Bashford, 33, and Chloe Bashford, 30, were found at their home in Lewes Road, Newhaven, on 9 June 2023.
Derek Martin, 65, of Moulsecoomb Way, Brighton, has previously pleaded not guilty to murder but has admitted manslaughter.
A hearing at the Old Bailey on Friday set the provisional trial date for 7 October at Lewes Crown Court.
Confirmation of the trial date is subject to a further hearing scheduled for 19 July at the Old Bailey.
Mr Martin did not attend the hearing and remains in custody.
