Police believe a pair of "unexplained" deaths could be linked to the use of Class A drugs.
Essex Police received reports of two deaths in Avon Way, Greenstead, Colchester, between Saturday evening and Sunday morning
The force said the circumstances were not suspicious and that the deceased's loved ones were being supported.
A file was being prepared for the coroner earlier, police added.
A spokesman said: "Class A drugs like heroin and cocaine are uncontrolled substances 鈥 it is impossible to know how strong, how dangerous or how deadly they could be.
"Drug dealers are happy to devastate lives for profit by fuelling the harmful cycle of crime and drug addiction."
