A council has announced its splashpad will "not be in action" this bank holiday weekend.

Worcester City Council made the announcement about the Gheluvelt Park splashpad on Saturday, citing maintenance issues.

It is not known how long it will be out of action for.

The closure comes just weeks after the council's managing director, David Blake, called the splashpad's repeated failings a PR embarrassment for the city.

A council review is taking place to determine whether the splashpad is coming to the "end of its working life".

Mr Blake said the investigation was to determine the reasons for each failure "as well as what it might cost to fix it".
