Police officer seriously injured after being hit by fleeing car
A police officer has been seriously injured after being hit by a car that sped off in Hamilton.
Two officers approached the Audi S3 on Low Waters Road in the South Lanarkshire town at about 13:00 on Friday.
When they tried to speak to the occupants, the vehicle left the scene and the 33-year-old officer was hit.
He was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for treatment. Police Scotland said his injuries were serious but not life-threatening.
The other police officer at the scene was not injured.
Police Scotland said it was carrying out "extensive inquiries" to trace the Audi and its occupants.
Det Insp Scott Robertson said: 鈥淥ur thoughts are very much with our colleague who has suffered serious injuries in this incident.
鈥淗is family are aware and we are providing them with support, as well as the other officers who have attended the scene.
鈥淲e believe this was an isolated incident and there is no wider risk to the public."
