Homes in Aberdeen were evacuated after a "metallic device" was found at a property, which turned out to be fishing equipment.

A bomb disposal team was sent to assess the item found on Bressay Brae at about 20:45 on Sunday.

A cordon was set up around Bressay Brae, Fara Close, Cava Close, Samphrey Road and Eday Court. Residents were able to return home at 05:15.

Police Scotland described the incident as a "false alarm with good intent."
