Police charge man with murder and sexual assault

A man has been charged with the murder of a woman in west Cumbria.

Police were called to a property in Whitehaven at about 23:45 GMT on 22 March.

The 50-year-old man from Whitehaven appeared at Workington Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, charged with the murder of Tiffany Render, 34.

The man was also charged with sexual assault.

He was remanded into custody and is due to appear at Carlisle Crown Court on Wednesday 27 March.
