Three women have been arrested in connection with the suspected theft of £500 worth of goods from supermarkets.

Officers received reports three people left Sainsbury's in Colwick, Nottinghamshire, without paying for items.

The suspects, aged 38, 34, and 21, were arrested on suspicion of theft after police said they pulled over a car.

As well as Sainsbury’s items, officers also seized suspected stolen goods from Asda and Morrisons stores.

Sgt Mohson Hussain, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: "Shop theft is not a victimless crime, and it can have a significant detrimental impact on retail staff and shop customers."
