Crash arrests after woman critically injured

A woman is in a critical condition in hospital after a crash in Birmingham.

West Midlands Police said a Toyota Yaris had failed to stop for officers in Fountain Road, Edgbaston, on Saturday night before colliding with another car which then hit the front of a house.

The 53-year-old woman, who was a passenger in the second car, sustained life-threatening injuries, while the 45-year-old female driver was also seriously hurt.

The 21-year-old male driver of the Yaris and a 17-year-old boy were arrested by officers before being taken to hospital.

The force said both suspects remained in hospital.

They were arrested on suspicion of theft from a motor vehicle.

The Yaris driver was also arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and failing to stop.
