Three more charged over Hull violent disorder

A further three people have been charged following violent disorder in Hull.

Missiles were thrown at police officers, shops looted and a hotel housing asylum seekers targeted during the unrest in the city centre on 3 August.

The latest suspects were charged with a number of offences, including arson and violent disorder.

One of the men was also charged with racially aggravated criminal damage.

The suspects are:

  • Jermaine Glover, 23, of Cranswick Grove, Hull, is charged with violent disorder, possession of an offensive weapon and arson
  • Abderrahim Elmuoden, 20, of Wimslow Close, North Tyneside is charged with violent disorder, two counts of burglary, arson and racially aggravated criminal damage
  • Billy Bragger, 23, of Middleton Street, Hull, is charged with violent disorder, three counts of burglary and arson

All three men were due to appear before Hull Magistrates' Court on Thursday.

Previously, prosecutor Jeremy Evans said about 拢400,000 of damage was caused when the Shoezone, O2 and Lush shops on Jameson Street were looted.

He said the hotel windows were smashed and staff had to place tables in front of them to protect those inside.

The disorder across the country was sparked by online misinformation claiming that the suspect in the fatal stabbing of three girls in Southport on 29 July was a Muslim asylum seeker.
