Petition supporters argue some beaches could still be kept dog-free

Jersey ministers will have to respond to calls for dog-friendly beaches year-round and free town parking on Saturdays after more than 1,000 people signed petitions on each topic.

Former politician Ben Shenton started the petition for free parking in public car parks, saying it would help St Helier to "get its mojo back". It has had more than 1,250 people sign it.

More than 1,100 people have signed the petition asking for beaches where dogs could be off the lead year-round, as was the case in Guernsey, arguing they could still be banned completely from popular beaches between April and October.

The petitions are still open.
