Pedestrian dies after being struck by van
A pedestrian has died after being hit by a van in North Ayrshire.
The 37-year-old man was struck by a Peugeot Partner van near the Eglinton roundabout on the A78 at Irvine.
Police about the incident which happened in the early hours of Friday, at about 00:25.
Emergency services attended but the man died at the scene. The 49-year-old van driver was uninjured.
Sgt Brian Simpson from the road policing unit at Irvine said: "Our thoughts are with the man鈥檚 family and friends at this difficult time.
"Our inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances. I would urge anyone who witnessed the crash or who has any information that may assist our inquiry to contact us.
"I would also ask anyone who was driving on the A78 around the time to review their footage and please contact us if it holds anything relevant."
