Town centre roads close for essential maintenance

Part of a town centre will be closed to traffic from Sunday afternoon for essential road maintenance work.
Castle Street, St Mary’s Street, Dogpole and Wyle Cop in Shrewsbury will be closed from 16:00 BST on 19 May, Shropshire Council said.
The works could continue into the early hours of Monday, if necessary, they added but it is hoped noisy work will be completed by 23:00.
Town centre businesses will remain open as usual, as will council car parks, and a signed diversion route will be in place.
While the roads are closed Severn Trent Water will be repairing a manhole cover and frame on the same route, to avoid carrying out this work at a later date and under a further road closure, the council added.
Pride Hill may also be affected as it may be used as an egress route to safely escort some vehicles to High Street and Shoplatch.
Businesses were advised to avoid deliveries on Sunday afternoon and evening if possible.
People attending performances at Theatre Severn on Sunday are advised to allow extra time to travel.
High Street, Shoplatch and Wyle Cop (uphill) will be closed as normal from 10:00 until 16:00 BST on Sunday, the council said.
