Mud fears put paid to postponed food festival
- Published
Weather concerns have led to the cancellation of a delayed food festival.
The Cramlington Feast, which was due to take place on 7 and 8 September in the town鈥檚 Seven Oaks Park, was postponed in July due to heavy rain and hail.
Organiser North Feast said "with the way the weather has been" there was a high risk the ground would be too muddy.
While there was support in Cramlington for the festival, the space was described as "just not right".
North Feast's Mark Deakin described the site as "really problematic", according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.
"We did an event there last year and it dug the ground up quite badly, everything聽was getting stuck and it was a nightmare," he said.
鈥淚f you get rain the night before, you鈥檙e literally stuck in the mud. We didn鈥檛 want that situation to arise again.
鈥淲e did look at putting it on in September but, with the way the weather has been, we have decided not to go ahead.
"It鈥檚 just not an event space."
