China Mobile, the mobile phone operator with the most subscribers in the world, has said its profits increased as more music and video was downloaded.
Net profit rose 3.9% to 119.6bn yuan ($18.2bn) in 2010, while revenue was up by more than 7%.
"Increasing mobile penetration in China will further intensify competition in the telecommunications industry," chairman Wang Jianzhou warned.
The telecoms firm has a total of 584 million subscribers.
In June, it said it had 493 million users.
The company said earlier this month that the Chinese capital, Beijing, was now on the list of cities that had been given approval to roll out trials of its high-speed 4G network, in addition to populous cities such as Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen.
