Bruce Forsyth has quit Strictly Come Dancing's Sunday results show and will be replaced by Claudia Winkleman.

Winkleman, who also hosts Strictly's spin-off show, It Takes Two, will join Tess Daly for the elimination show.

This year, it will not feature a dance-off between the two dance couples with the lowest number of audience votes.

Series eight of Strictly Come Dancing will launch with a one-hour show on 11 September. The first live show will be aired on 1 October.

Forsyth will continue to host the ´óÏó´«Ã½ One Saturday night competition shows and will also host the launch show.

"I'm properly excited about working alongside Tess on the Sunday results show," Winkleman said.

Format change

"They've just told me the line-up. One word. Excited."

The first live competition shows will be split over 1 and 2 October and will not be followed by a results show.

Instead, the judges will score the competitors, with the leader board being carried over to the following week.

The following weekend, the live show on Saturday will be followed by a results show on the Sunday, allowing viewers two weeks to decide on their favourite couple before voting.

´óÏó´«Ã½ controller of entertainment, Mark Linsey, said: "Tess and Claudia were the obvious choices to present and we're really proud that a fresh Strictly will return with must-see, family event television."
