In pictures: Photographic portrait prize
David Chancellor has been announced as winner of this year's Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize for his portrait, entitled Huntress with Buck. He was presented with a cheque for 拢12,000 during the award ceremony at the National Portrait Gallery.
The second prize went to Panayiotis Lamprou for his Portrait of my British Wife from the series Human Presence. The picture has been cropped due to the explicit nature of the rest of the photo.
This portrait, taken by Jeffrey Stockbridge, is of twin sisters Carroll and Shelly McKean. They live on the street and suffer from insomnia. They both have an addiction to a particular prescription drug and sell their bodies to supply their habit.
Fourth Prize went to Abbie Trayler-Smith for Untitled 2 from the series Childhood Obesity. She photographed the girl after discussing the issue with her. When she went to change camera film, she looked back and "the picture was there".
The winner of the Elle Commission 2010 is Clare Shilland for her portrait, Merel. Shilland will be given the opportunity to shoot a feature story for the magazine. The photos are part of an exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery.
