Singer Willie Nelson has been charged with possessing cannabis after the drug was allegedly found on his tour bus, a US Border Patrol spokesman has said.
Patrol spokesman Bill Brooks said the bus pulled into a Texas checkpoint on Friday and an officer smelled the drug when a door was opened.
He told the Associated Press that six ounces of the drug were found.
The spokesman added that after the county sheriff was contacted, Nelson was among three people arrested.
The country and western singer, 77, was held briefly until he paid a $2,500 bond before being released.
His spokeswoman Elaine Schock declined to comment when contacted by The Associated Press.
Nelson still performs regularly and is well-known as a singer, songwriter and actor. His hits include Crazy, which was made famous by singer Patsy Cline.
