US actress Gwyneth Paltrow has described her new star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame as "overwhelming".

Paltrow, 38, said she was proud her "grandchildren can one day come and see my name on the sidewalk".

Shana Feste, director of Paltrow's latest movie Country Strong, said she was "a strange acting alien... created to perform".

Meanwhile, it has been revealed that Paltrow will reprise a cameo role in hit US TV musical Glee.

Feste said that people on the set of Country Strong, due for release in the US in January and the UK in March, were "constantly amazed by her process".

"You could be having the most mundane conversation about the weather, and she hears the word 'action', and she would deliver the most nuanced, layered, heartbreakingly beautiful scene and look at you like she just tied her shoe."

Last month, Paltrow was shown in the US playing substitute teacher Holly Holiday in high school show Glee, singing a version of Cee Lo's Forget You as well as a "mash-up" of Singin' in the Rain and Umbrella, by Rihanna.

Paltrow, who won the best actress Oscar in 1999 for Shakespeare in Love, said her appearance had won her new fans.

"The other day I was in Chicago doing this movie Contagion," she told Reuters.

"I was in my trailer, which was in a parking lot by a school, and there were these young girls who were like, 'oh my God, you were on Glee'."

The girls were "literally on the floor" making bowing motions, she added.

Details of Paltrow's next Glee appearance have not been revealed.

Paltrow's episodes will be shown in the UK on E4 in the new year.
