Janet Strudwick from Worcester was targeted by fraudsters in a so-called "crash for cash" scam.

Although her insurers picked up the bill for the repairs, she lost her £250 excess and initially lost her no-claims bonus as well.

The West Midlands has the three worst areas for this kind of crime according to a new league table.

Birmingham is the worst area, although Worcester was named by the insurance company Aviva last year as an emerging hotspot.

The driver of one of the cars, a man in his 20s, died at the scene, and two adults and three children in the other car were taken to hospital - three with serious injuries.

The two other children, a seven-year-old boy and a five-year-old boy, both with multiple injuries, were also taken to Birmingham Children's Hospital.

Worcestershire's Moeen Ali scored England's second fastest ever one day century from just 53 balls,.
